We are OPEN again

July the 4th wasn’t just Independence Day for the USA it was the day that England’s Hospitality trade was given the go-ahead to open our doors after 106 days – a very very long sleep for the Sweeney indeed.  We must not forget all the people who have suffered during these 106 days, people who have caught Covid-19 and worse the people who have lost their lives from this virus.  We’ve clapped every Thursday for the NHS and keyworkers who have helped keep it all together over the past 16 weeks too.  But as a Hotel, we’ve been keenly aware that we should give back something to those that have supported us for the past 26 years.  So on March 20 as we said goodnight to our last customers inside the Sweeney for 106 days we sat down to decide what to do.  Sean decided to start a delivery service, three days a week offering freshly prepared food to re-heat at home, we offered free delivery within 5 miles and people could collect if they wanted to.  We offered Date Night hot food for collection with a bottle of fizz, we did countless Afternoon Tea Treat boxes with VE day being off the scale.  Then we decided to offer Hot Sunday Lunch for collection – on Fathers Day we did 250 Sunday Lunches  – a Fathers Day record even in normal times.  But now, we are back to the New Normal.  We have followed the guidelines, we’ve trained our amazing team of staff to be COVID Aware and COVID Safe.  Our Restaurant, for now, is open on the slightly reduced hours of 12 noon till 2pm and 6pm to 8pm.  Our Menu remains full of delicious dishes just slightly less of them to ensure COVID safety appliance in our kitchen.  We have placed hand sanitizers all around the hotel for both guests and staff to make use of.  We have implemented a one-way system to maintain minimal contact between staff and guests.  We offer table service for everything now to stop people congregating at the Bar and we have ample room to socially distance guests both inside the Sweeney and outside.  Our Bedrooms are once more taking guests – things will be a little different and we’ve attached a letter to Room Guests that explains all the changes.  But we are a Hotel, Restaurant and Bar and we have always prided ourselves on our warm welcome and friendly atmosphere at the Sweeney and that will never change.  We want you, our guests to feel confident, safe and welcome here in the New Normal and we so look forward to seeing you back at the Sweeney once again
