Kristian Kynaston Evans

General Manager

I was 18 months old when I moved to The Sweeney from London with my parents. I came to The Sweeney with my older brother, and have fantastic memories of our adventures.

Born within the sound of the Bow Bells I can claim a true Cockney heritage, but I’m a Shropshire boy at heart. I went to Oswestry School and went on to complete my fulltime education at North Shropshire College after completing a Business Management & Marketing course.

I’ve enjoyed working at The Sweeney since I was 14 during the school holidays, but joined the team as a full-time member of the team when I was 19. Over the years I have ‘worked my way up’, starting with the washing up, and then as a waiter to where I am now – The Sweeney’s Front of House Manager. I am now responsible for ensuring our guests receive the warmest of welcomes, and indeed everything they expect from their stay.

I am still keen to expand my knowledge and have honed my hotel and restaurant management skills by attending stages at Mark Sargeant’s Rock Salt restaurant in Folkestone.

I’m always keen to bring new ideas to The Sweeney, and I have been the driving force behind our Gin fest, which is now in its eighth year and a very important date in the hotel’s calendar. as well as most the other large events
